A WOMAN said to have driven at 85mph in a car with three passengers, including two children, still had the remnants of cocaine in her body.
A court heard how Tracy Jones, 44, was six times over the limit.
She had 300 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine, in her blood compared to the legal level of 50mg.
Flintshire Magistrates Court was told she also had prescribed medication in her system.
District Judge Gwyn Jones said it was clear there was significant impairment as a result of the drugs she had taken.
Driving at 85mph had put herself and her passengers in jeopardy, he said.
Jones of St Anne’s Court in Wrexham, admitted driving above the drug limit and was banned from driving for two years.
She was placed on a 12-month community order under which she must carry out 70 hours unpaid work. She must pay £85 costs and a £60 surcharge.
Prosecutor Rhian Jones told how she passed police on the A483 out of Chester at speed.
Officers reached 90mph to catch her up and it was estimated her speed was 85mph.
At the Posthouse Roundabout she joined the A55 towards Broughton but was very close to the grass verge on the on-slip.
She then turned sharply into lane one and was then weaving in her lane.
The defendant was stopped at the Broughton Retail Park off-slip.
A breathtest proved negative for alcohol but a saliva test for drugs was positive.
David Matthews, defending, said his client was a recovering heroin addict.
She had been on a methadone prescription for many years and was hoping to rid herself completely.
The defendant occasionally used cocaine for recreational purposes.
But she was shocked at the level detected in her system and considered herself fit to drive.
He said she had been allowed to drive after taking the test at the police station.
She was the full time carer for her daughter and a disqualification would cause difficulties.
