A WREXHAM man has been locked up after a court heard how while drunk he assaulted his own mother while on a suspended sentence for an affray against his grandad.
James Evans, 20, of Tanyfron, Wrexham, also damaged the family home and that of a former partner.
At Mold Crown Court Evans was jailed for eight months after he admitted assault and two charges of damage which put him in breach of an earlier suspended sentence imposed at the crown court.
Judge David Hale said that the defendant had come home at four o’clock in the morning “steaming drunk”.
It was hardly surprising that his mother was concerned about that.
He was ‘a thorough nuisance’ out of control and he assaulted her and spat at her.
After causing damage at the house he threw a brick through the window of his former partner’s home.
“It is inevitable that I have to lock you up,” Judge Hale told him.
The court heard how he was very drunk when he arrived home in the early hours of February 28 .
When his mother went to check on him he was abusive and spat in her face. He threatened to smash her face in.
Back downstairs he smashed the kitchen door off its hinges and when asked to leave spat at her.
He left but tried to get back in and damaged the door.
Evans went to the home of an ex-girlfriend and when he was not allowed in threw a brick through the window, explained prosecuting barrister Simon Mintz.
He was said to be very sorry and while he wanted a future relationship with his mother believed that he should move out.
He had previously been made the subject of a suspended prison sentence for an affray which involved an incident between him and his grandfather.
