Llanrwst,North Wales - Mother of Llanrwst attack victim describes 'bloodbath' after shocking assault

Thelma Williams says her son Ayron won't go out by himself after he was attacked and robbed by Luke Jones and Stephen Jones

The mother of a teenager viciously robbed by two men says their four-year jail sentence isn’t long enough.
Luke Jones, 20, of Pen y Gwndwn, Blaenau Ffestiniog, and 29-year-old Stephen Jones, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Crown Court to the “prolonged attack” in Llanrwst on January 15, during which they used their feet as weapons.
Victim Ayron Williams, 18, from Trefriw, had his jaw broken in three places.
Passing sentence, Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins said Mr Williams had been kicked repeatedly to the face and body while lying on the floor.
Luke Jones also ripped off Mr Williams’ coat, hoodie and T-shirt.
The two defendants then walked off with his wallet, mobile phone and items of clothing.

Ayron’s mother Thelma Williams said: “Because of what has happened, Ayron doesn’t like leaving home any more.
“He won’t go out by himself, but luckily his girlfriend has been an absolute rock through all this trauma.
“I will never forget seeing him the night it happened. I still get flashbacks because of it.
“The bathroom was a bloodbath. His face was covered in blood.
“I could tell straight away the jaw was broken. It wasn’t a pretty sight.”

Thelma phoned the police and Ayron’s girlfriend phoned for an ambulance.
The police arrived but Mrs Williams said that, after waiting for two hours, an ambulance still hadn’t turned up.
It turned out the ambulance had been diverted to a car crash.
Mrs Williams ended up taking Ayron to hospital herself, but was worried he would have a fit in the car as a result of his injuries.
“The police officer was questioning Ayron as to what happened, but he was struggling to speak because of his jaw,” she said.
“I was later told by his consultant that, on a scale of one to 10, his fractures were a nine.
“The wait for the ambulance was terrible. I ended up taking him, but I was concerned he was going to have a fit or something in the car.”
Since the incident, Ayron, who has Asperger’s syndrome, has got on with his life.
He works in a cafe in Betws y Coed and is doing a plumbing course at college.
“Ayron just doesn’t want to talk about what happened,” said his mum.
“Four years isn’t a long enough sentence for what they did to my son.
“As a family, we will never forget that shocking night.”
A spokeswoman for the Welsh Ambulance Service encouraged the family to contact them directly so they “can better understand his concerns”.
