Caernarfon,South Wales - Brothers deny ex Gwynedd bus company director's claim they planted indecent images of children on his computer

John David Hulme, 56, of Caernarfon, denies nine counts of making and possessing 15,423 indecent images of boys and girls

Two brothers told a jury they were shocked over allegations they had planted indecent images of children on a man’s computer when he was a director at a bus company
John David Hulme, 56, of Glan Seiont, Caernarfon was arrested after police were alerted by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) that indecent images had been uploaded to an email address linked to his home and workplace.
The offences are alleged to have been committed between April 2008 and December 2012 during which time Hulme was a director at Gwynedd-based Padarn Bus.
He told detectives he believed the images had been planted on his computer equipment by Darren Price, a co-director at the company, and his brother Shane.
Hulme denies nine charges of making and possessing 15,423 indecent images of boys and girls and stands trial at Caernarfon Crown Court .
Today Hulme’s barrister, Mathew Curtis, asked Darren Price if he had planted the images on Hulme’s computer in a bid to get him sacked from the company and therefore miss out on the firm’s future growth.
Mr Price said: “No, I wanted him to continue working for Padarn Bus.
"After his arrest he was suspended but I continued to ask him to do work for the company until he was charged..”
He insisted he had never accessed Hulme’s laptop or used the Wi-Fi at his home to view or download indecent images of children.
When asked by prosecutor Sion ap Mihangel how he felt when he heard of Hulme’s claims, Mr Price answered: “Shocked, I can’t believe he said such a thing.”
The jury heard Padarn Bus folded in 2014 and Mr Price and Hulme were serving jail terms after being charged with fraud.
Mr Price admitted a charge of false accounting while Hulme was found guilty by a jury of fraud and false accounting.
Today Darren Price’s brother Shane was asked about his visits to Hulme’s home and he said he could remember two visits.
He said the first was while on duty as a firefighter when he, and a colleague, installed fire alarms at the house.
Mr Price said: “The other time was when I went with my brother to take work to him after he was suspended from work.”
Shane Price added he was not financially involved in Padarn Bus but helped out regularly.
During cross examination he said he would occasionally use Hulme’s work computer at weekends so he could be in the same office as his brother.
Asked by both barristers if he had accessed indecent images of children on any of Hulme’s computers, Mr Price said “Not at all.”
Mr ap Mihangel asked him how he felt to be accused of planting such material on the computers used by Hulme.
Speaking in Welsh Mr Price replied: “It makes me sick to think of it.”
Earlier police computer expert Julian Blackford told the jury he had examined the computer equipment seized from Hulme at his home and workplace.
He said the inspection had uncovered significant numbers of indecent images of children.
Mr Blackford said the internet history of the equipment revealed searches had been carried out for indecent images of girls and boys and websites containing pictures of teenage girls had been accessed.
He added some of the images were in folders which had titles “indicative of child pornography”.
Det Con Catherine Walker explained how the matter had been brought to the attention of North Wales Police.
Search warrants were obtained and officers visited both addresses simultaneously.
Det Con Gwyn Williams said he had asked Hulme to point out his work computer and asked him if he had a mobile phone.
He said he was handed a phone by Hulme and was then asked if he had any laptops.
“He said he did not,” the officer said.
As he was being taken to be interviewed at Caernarfon police station the officers received information about a laptop and Hulme’s car was searched and a laptop was found in the boot.
The trial continues.

Swansea,South Wales - Children left 'upset and scared' after being chased down the street by a drunk man who had a boy in a neck lock

The incident happened near Sketty Park shops

Benjamin Jonathan Roberts, 31, had also threatened to burn a police officer's house down

A drunk man put a young boy in a neck lock and threw him to the ground before chasing other children and throwing a bucket at one of them, a court has heard.
Swansea Magistrates’ Court heard how Benjamin Jonathan Roberts was swearing and shouting at people in the street, ran off when police were called and then adopted a “fighting stance” when he was cornered by an officer.
Julie Sullivan, prosecuting, said police were alerted to a disturbance involving a drunk male near the Sketty Park shops at around 6.15pm on August 9.
Roberts was seen by witnesses being abusive to children in the area, and kicking parked cars.
The court heard Roberts then approached a young boy and asked him “do you want to fight?” before grabbing him in a neck lock and pulling him to the floor.

Children were 'upset and scared'

The youngster managed to free himself and get away, but a short time later Roberts – who by now was armed with a long wooden pole and a bucket – approached the youngster and a group of his friends, and began chasing them, throwing the bucket at one of the children.
The children ran into nearby Bay Tree Avenue pursued by Roberts, who then began swearing and shouting abuse at people in the street.

One of the residents called police, and when a PC arrived on the scene he found the defendant and around 20 people, including several “upset and scared” children.

The case was heard at Swansea Magistrates' Court

Roberts ran off and was chased by an officer who cornered him against a wall.
He then came towards the officer with fists raised and in “fighting stance”. When his warnings went unheeded, the PC struck Roberts on the leg with his baton and took him to the floor – the pair then “struggled” on the floor until backup arrived and Roberts was restrained.

The court heard that Roberts had drunk two or three cans of beer, two cans of gin and tonic, four or five pints of beer, and four double shots of Jack Daniel’s whisky on the day in question, and was “extremely drunk”.
Roberts, 31, of Rosemary Close, Sketty, Swansea, pleaded guilty to common assault, to a public order matter and to possessing 1.2 grams of cannabis.

Tirade of abuse at PC

Magistrates also heard details of a previous incident when he had subjected a different police officer to a “tirade of abuse” after being arrested, threatening to burn the officer’s house down with his family inside and paying someone to kill him.
In his police interview, Roberts had said he had left the bar where he was drinking at 5.45pm so he could get home before his curfew started but could not remember much after that.
Roberts also pleaded guilty to a public order offence on May 16 when he had subjected the PC who had arrested him in the street to a prolonged “tirade of abuse” and threats in the police car going back to Swansea Central police station and in the custody suite during which he repeatedly said he would torch the officer’s house with his family inside and would pay someone £5,000 to kill him.
The court heard the officer said he had never been subjected to – nor witnessed – such a degree of abuse or threats in more than 25 years on the job.
Roberts has previous convictions for some 22 offences, and was on a community order – with curfew – at the time of the Sketty Park disturbance.
Sentencing was adjourned to September 13.

Pontypridd,South Wales - Police officer is jailed for four years after having sex with a child rape victim he met online

Met Police officer James Evans, from Pontypridd, has been been jailed for four years

A serving police officer has been jailed after having sex with a child rape victim he met online.
PC James Evans, 26, who served in the Metropolitan Police, exchanged dozens of “sex talk” messages with the vulnerable 15-year-old schoolgirl on the Tinder dating app.
She performed a sex act on him in his car while he was driving her home from a session with child mental health services.
Despite knowing she was under 16 and a rape victim, he later took her to his flat in Ruislip, west London, where they engaged in full intercourse.
Evans, now of Pontypridd , was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment at Isleworth Crown Court on Tuesday and will be on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

Judge Robin Johnson said: “Before any sexual activity you knew she was a vulnerable young girl. Nevertheless, you allowed your own desire to overcome your better judgement.
“The reason why Parliament and the public take this kind of offending so seriously is because the harm caused in these cases is incalculable.”
He added: “You were a serving police officer and knew you were dealing with a young vulnerable girl – because of her previous sexual assault she was receiving mental health treatment at the time.
“Her victim impact statement makes for sad reading, and I have no doubt this episode has caused her serious psychological harm.”
Evans and the girl “matched” on Tinder in January 2016 and engaged in sexual activity on three occasions during the same month.
He claims he did not notice the warning symbol on her profile page stating that she was under the age of 18.
Their messages on the social media site became “more and more explicit” and sex acts were described, Douglas Adams, prosecuting, said.
The victim initially lied about her age, claiming she was 16, but told Evans she was only 15 and still at school before they had any sexual contact and even told him she was taking exams.
The abuse has had a “severe” effect on her and she has been taken to hospital a number of times since the incident after taking an overdose of sleeping pills.
In a statement read to the court, she said: “I now know he took full advantage of my vulnerabilities.
“I told James I had been sexually assaulted the previous August and now I know he should have acted differently as a police officer.”
Her mother reported the relationship to police after reading her daughter’s diary and finding photographs of Evans in his police uniform.
Evans pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a child.
He initially denied having any sexual contact with the girl but later made full admissions to the offences.
“I know it was stupid – I had sex with her, knowing she was 15,” Evans said during police interview.

Swansea,South Wales - A pensioner says he is too embarrassed to have friends over because of unsightly fly-tipping

A typical day of fly-tipping in Heol Emrys, according to angry resident Bill Eades

Everything from fridge freezers and beds to drum kits and sofas have been dumped in Heol Emrys in Swansea

Unsightly fly-tipping has caused a pensioner living nearby to feel too embarrassed to invite friends to his house.
Everything from fridge freezers and beds to drum kits and sofas have been dumped in Heol Emrys, Penlan, Swansea.
But despite the installation of cameras and complaints from residents, rubbish continues to build up. Bill Eades, 69, lives less than 25 metres from one of the hotspots and said he has had enough.
“If you drive around any morning you’ll see it everywhere,” said Mr Eades. “It will get cleared up but give it a day or two and it will be near enough as bad again.

'It's just laziness'

“There’s an incinerator close but they don’t take everything so maybe people come and dump those things here. If you make a call you can get someone to pick these things up, I think it’s just laziness.
“More than anything it’s just embarrassing. I don’t like to have people around here because of it - I always arrange to meet people instead of having them over.”

Mr Eades said the problem had been going on for at least two years and claims it is getting worse everyday.

'It's unfair on local residents'

He said: “This is one of Swansea’s fly-tipping hotspots. The council do eventually collect items fly-tipped here but last week there was a three-piece suite and a drum set dumped.

“I have raised this with the council and suggested three alternative courses of action. It is unfair on local residents to have to put up with the fly-tipping.”
A Swansea Council spokesman said: “Fly-tipping is not a victimless crime and we would urge anyone who has information about who was responsible for this or any other incident to contact us to assist in our investigations.”

Haverfordwest,South Wales - Man 'battered ex-girlfriend to death after she had sex with someone else'

Natasha Bradbury, 28, was found dead at a property in Haverfordwest's High Street
Natasha Bradbury, 28, was found dead at a property in Haverfordwest's High Street

Luke George Jones, 33, denies murdering Natasha Bradbury at her Haverfordwest home

A welder “savagely” beat his ex-girlfriend to death after she told him she had slept with another man, a court has heard.
The body of Natasha Bradbury, 27, was found in her home in Haverfordwest , in February,Swansea Crown Court was told on Wednesday.
Jurors heard the two-bedroomed terraced flat had been “smashed up” and blood stains were found on sinks, banisters and walls.
Two days before her death, Miss Bradbury’s former partner Luke George Jones, 33, had sent her scores of messages asking her to speak to him, the jury heard.
Jones, of Hakin, Milford Haven , denies murder.

'Extensive' injuries

Prosecuting counsel Paul Lewis QC described mother-of-one Miss Bradbury’s injuries as “extensive”.
He said: “Miss Bradbury was subjected to a savage attack in her own home.
“In the course of the attack, the defendant inflicted widespread and fatal injuries that included extensive blunt-force trauma to her head and chest. He caused her fractures to her ribs and broke a bone in her neck.
“In principle, he beat Miss Bradbury to her death.
“The motive for his violence? It appears to have been jealousy and his possessiveness of the deceased.”
The court heard that Miss Bradbury and Jones had been in an on-off relationship for around three years.
Mr Lewis said the couple began arguing on February 18 after Miss Bradbury said she was going to stay at a female friend’s house rather than spend the night with Jones.
Jurors were shown several WhatsApp messages sent by the defendant, which included, “You’ve broken my heart”, and, “Here I am again lonely”.
The following day, Miss Bradbury messaged Jones and said their relationship had ended. He later replied: “If you’ve lost interest in me you must be interested in someone else.”

'I've slept with someone last night'

Miss Bradbury also received 28 missed calls from the defendant’s phone between 4am and 5am on February 20.
Speaking of the messages, calls and posts via social media, Mr Lewis said: “At times he is expressing his love, other times distress. You may think he was trying to assert emotional pressure on her.”
Miss Bradbury messaged Jones the following morning and said: “Look, I’m sorry, I’ve slept with someone last night.”
Mr Lewis said neighbours of Miss Bradbury heard what sounded like her flat being “smashed up” at around 11.30pm on February 22.
Mr Lewis said one resident heard a man aggressively shouting before everything went quiet at around 2am.
Jones made a 999 call at 2.48am. Mr Lewis claimed the defendant sounded “calm and detached”.
Mr Lewis said: “He immediately suggested that Natasha Bradbury was responsible for the damage (in the flat) and she had fallen over before he woke up to find her not breathing.
“He largely answered no questions when later interviewed by the police – but did provide prepared statements in which he said he had used no violence at all.
“We submit the details he provided to the police were a pack of lies.
“It was intended by him to avoid the consequences of what he did to Miss Bradbury.”

Anger management courses

As well as being played the 999 call, jurors were also shown several photographs of the inside of Miss Bradbury’s flat in High Street.
Mr Lewis said damage inside the flat included a smashed TV, broken glass on the top floor where Miss Bradbury’s body was found, as well as blood stains on bedding.
He added that before the alleged murder, Jones had spoken to a GP about attending anger management classes.
Jurors were also told Miss Bradbury had spoken to a friend about Jones “smashing my stuff” on a prior occasion.
The case continues.
