A WOMAN burgled her mother's friend after the victim had called in to see her mum in what a judge has described as a "sneaky and mean" burglary.
Rachel Louise Williams told the pair she was going out to catch the bus into Swansea — but instead went straight around to the victim's house and broke in to her empty property.
Williams helped herself to cash from a wallet and the contents of a money box but was caught after police found her finger prints on a kitchen window.
The 24-year-old, of Caldy Place, Blaenymaes, pleaded guilty to the June burglary when she appeared at Swansea Crown Court via videolink.
Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said that the victim had know Williams since the defendant was a small girl. At lunchtime on June 28 she went to see Williams' mum — Williams then left the friends, saying she was going to catch a bus into the city centre but instead went straight to the victim's house in St Cenydd Road in Portmead and broke into through an open kitchen window. She stole £75 from a wallet in the property, and around £27 in change from a money box.

The court heard Williams has previous convictions for burgling her uncle's house, stealing her grandmother's TV, and stealing more than £950 from the same burglary victim in a previous incident when she had taken her bank cards.
Andrew Evans, for Williams, said his client was struggling with personal issues and was addicted to both crack cocaine and heroin, but that she was hoping to spend her time in custody taking painting and decorating qualifications.
Judge Peter Heywood said Williams had a history of stealing "from her nearest and dearest", and described the June burglary as "sneaky and mean".

The judge said it was sad to hear of Williams' addiction to Class A drugs, and of the troubles she was having in her personal life.
He said the courts were aware of the "mess" drugs made of people's lives, and that he was in no doubt that the money she had taken "had ended up in the pockets of drug dealers".
Judge Heywood sentenced Williams to 14 months in prison, saying he hoped she got the counselling and support she needed and managed to turn her life around, adding "ultimately that is a matter for you".
