A man has been charged with the murder of a woman who died after an assault at a house inBarry .
The woman has now been named by South Wales Police as 54-year-old Lynne Braund.
She died in hospital from her critical injuries after police were called to an attack in Glanmor Crescent, Barry, on Thursday, August 4.
Raymond O’Connell was initially charged with attempted murder on August 5, and appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on August 6 when he was remanded in custody.
South Wales Police confirmed that following a review of evidence, the 63-year-old from Penarth has now been charged with murder.
He is now due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court via video link on Friday, September 2.
A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "The family of Lynne Braund are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers."
