A retired paramedic has been jailed for 16 years for a string of sex offences including child rape.
Arwel Roberts, 63, denied all the 12 charges against him.
He was today jailed for 10 years for the rape of the child, and was given two three-year sentences - to be served back to back - on top of that for offences against his other two victims.
Mold Crown Court heard that the affect on the victims - one of whom was under the age of 13 - had been “profound”.
However, Roberts, of Queens road in Greenfield , showed no empathy for his victims, and when arrested denied anything sexual had taken place.
But the court heard that when assaulting one of his victims, he had asked them if what he was doing to them was “nice”.
Prosecuting barrister Sion ap Mihangel said a girl came forward and told how she had been sexually assaulted by the defendant some ten years ago.
The jury heard that an investigation revealed that two others had also been sexually assaulted at an earlier stage, one of them back in the 1980s.
Mr ap Mihangel said that all three made similar allegations.
Roberts, who had been in the Royal Navy before joining the ambulance service, from which he retired in 1999 after suffering a spinal injury, was convicted last month by a jury who deliberated for five hours.
At his sentencing, he was told he would be ordered to register with police as a sex offender for life, and would be on licence well into his 80s.
Judge Gaynor Lloyd told him there was a “high risk” he would re-offend, and a risk to the community should be be released.
Henry Hills, defending, said his client appreciated that he would receive a significant sentence.
He was a man of previous good character, although it was conceded that was of limited value because of the offending which spanned two decades.
But Judge Lloyd said he continued to deny any wrong doing and saw himself as the victim.
