A woman has told of her terror after being woken in the early hours by an intruder trying to get into her bedroom.
The man then made his way into her housemate’s room, who let out “piercing screams” as he touched her before stealing a phone.
The terrifying incident happened in Orme Road, Bangor just after 2.30am today.
A 22-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
A 19-year-old, who lives at the property told the Daily Post her ordeal was “like something out of a horror film”.
She said she “froze” when she saw someone was trying her door handle but the door was locked.
'When I heard the piercing screams, they were like horror film scream'
Her student housemate’s door wasn’t and seconds later, she heard her screaming.
The woman who asked not to be identified said: “When I heard the piercing screams, they were like horror film screams and I knew then that there was an intruder in the house.
“I froze, I didn’t know what to do, I knew I needed to help but I had nothing in my room that I could use as a weapon.
“The walls are so thin in the house and her bedroom is right next to mine.
“I knew if I rang the police, he would hear me so I messaged a friend on Facebook to call for help.”
She added: “A few minutes later, I could hear my flat mate crying hysterically, I listened out and it sounded like the man had gone.
'Her face went blank as if they shock had hit her'
“I told her to lock her door and then called 999 but I still didn’t leave my room in case he was waiting outside the door.
“When the police arrived I came out of my room and noticed the burglar had damaged the bathroom and there was toothpaste all down my friend’s door and hand smudges all down my door, it was really creepy.
“She could barely talk to the police, her face went blank as if the shock had hit her.
“She managed to give them a brief description as she had caught sight of him because he had a torch.
“The whole thing left us both scared to death.”
After their ordeal, the women went to stay with relatives but the 19-year-old said this is the second time in two months that a man has got into the property.
“I was traumatised after the first break-in, that’s why I keep my door locked,” she said.
“My housemate is so shaken by what’s happened, I don’t think she will want to come back.”
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: “We were contacted shortly after 3am this morning (Wednesday, August 31) to a report that a man had entered a property on Orme Road, Bangor.
