THE police hunt for a man who robbed two Swansea corner shops at knife-point over the weekend is continuing today.
The Premier store in Brynmelyn and the nearby Spar shop in Waun Wen were targeted within 20 minutes of each other on Sunday morning.
In both robberies the assailant is described as being of a "chunky" build, wearing a light coloured hooded top and dark trousers, and speaking with an Irish or Liverpudlian accent.
The first incident at the Premier on the corner of Caepistyll Street and Llangyfelach Street in happened around 8.10am with the assailant felling empty-handed; the second happened around 8.30pm with the robber making-off with cash and tobacco from the Carmarthen Road shop.
The raids lead to a large police presence in the area on Sunday morning including armed response officers and the force helicopter.
Detectives are appealing for anybody with information about the robberies — or anybody who was in area at the time and saw anything suspicious — to come forward.
South Wales Police detective inspector Phil Sparrow said: "Extensive enquiries are continuing to identify the man responsible but we would also be grateful to hear from any members of the community who have information which may help."
