A court yesterday (Wednesday, August 24) refused to lift a restraining order to allow a couple to see each other after what a district judge described as a “history of domestic disharmony” between them.
Judge Gwyn Jones at Llandudno court said there had been “flagrant breaches” of the order.
He remarked: ”Members of the public and residents in Marl Avenue, Llandudno Junction, have the right to be protected by an order which will avoid any further breaches of the peace in the area.”
Jeanna Owen applied for the restraining order against Richard Marchant, 50, to be removed and insisted he had been “punished enough.”
But James Neary, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said police opposed the application.
Miss Owen maintained that Marchant, who wasn’t in court for the hearing, had “changed an awful lot” and was off cocaine and living at Colwyn Bay. He had been violent under the influence of the drug, she said.
But the judge said earlier this year she wanted the order – in force until October next year - extended and a few months later sought its removal. “I am satisfied I can’t be persuaded at this stage that the relationship is one which is destined to be peaceful and happy,” he added.
