Unsightly fly-tipping has caused a pensioner living nearby to feel too embarrassed to invite friends to his house.
Everything from fridge freezers and beds to drum kits and sofas have been dumped in Heol Emrys, Penlan, Swansea.
But despite the installation of cameras and complaints from residents, rubbish continues to build up. Bill Eades, 69, lives less than 25 metres from one of the hotspots and said he has had enough.
“If you drive around any morning you’ll see it everywhere,” said Mr Eades. “It will get cleared up but give it a day or two and it will be near enough as bad again.

'It's just laziness'

“There’s an incinerator close but they don’t take everything so maybe people come and dump those things here. If you make a call you can get someone to pick these things up, I think it’s just laziness.
“More than anything it’s just embarrassing. I don’t like to have people around here because of it - I always arrange to meet people instead of having them over.”

Mr Eades said the problem had been going on for at least two years and claims it is getting worse everyday.

'It's unfair on local residents'

He said: “This is one of Swansea’s fly-tipping hotspots. The council do eventually collect items fly-tipped here but last week there was a three-piece suite and a drum set dumped.

“I have raised this with the council and suggested three alternative courses of action. It is unfair on local residents to have to put up with the fly-tipping.”
A Swansea Council spokesman said: “Fly-tipping is not a victimless crime and we would urge anyone who has information about who was responsible for this or any other incident to contact us to assist in our investigations.”
