Pensarn, Abergele,North Wales - Teenager appears in court over alleged rape and kidnap of a 62-year-old woman

A YOUTH of 18 has appeared before JPs charged with rape and kidnap of a 62-year-old woman and also causing her grievous bodily harm with intent.

Jack Karl Thomas Williams of Mount Road, Rhyl, was in the dock briefly at a special court at Llandudno on Monday.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Caernarfon crown court next month.

Full details of the alleged attack on the beach at Pensarn, Abergele, early on Saturday were not given.

The alleged victim, a stranger, needed hospital treatment.

Robert Blakemore, prosecuting, asked for the remand to be in custody.

Simon Sargent, defending, did not seek bail.

Mr Sargent said: “He denies all the allegations.”

In a statement police have appealed for witnesses. Supt Alex Goss said : “I would like to reassure the local community that this was an isolated incident.”
