Caernarfon,North Wales - Anti-tax vandals go on Caernarfon spray-paint spree

Let's be honest about this we are all angry, In Conwy 4 weekly Bin collections are coming in, yet council tax has gone up again! But the council Lose 1 Million on Parc Eirias, and we have to foot the bill. Of course vandalism is wrong, but so are the council and how they operate. Our area is crumbling around us but the council are building new Offices in Colwyn Bay for 30 Million, People are going to get a lot Angrier !

Houses, phone boxes and the Eagles pub were targeted in the late-night attack

Vandals have been on a spray-painting spree in a Gwynedd town.
Houses, phone boxes and a pub in Caernarfon have been daubed with graffiti that reads “council tax is slavery”.
Shortly before midnight on Monday, vandals targeted the Eagles Hotel on Tithebarn Street and a house and phone box on Llanbeblig Road.
A road sign and a kiosk have also been daubed with the blue paint.
Clive Jones, landlord at the Eagles Hotel, said: “I am absolutely furious.
“I have been running this pub for 12 years and have never seen anything like it.
“Why couldn’t they write it on their own house? Why target my business and other people’s houses?
“It must be a very small-minded person who’s done this.
“I’m fuming about the whole thing.
“I don’t have a CCTV camera facing that side of the building, but someone must have seen this happen.”
Mr Jones said he felt it was Gwynedd Council’s responsibility to clean the graffiti as they have a duty to take care of the town.
County and town councillor Roy Owen urged anyone who has a problem with their council tax bill to contact the local authority.
The former mayor said: “This is not the correct way to vent anger.
“It just shows that they have no respect for the town whatsoever and it is not acceptable.
“Obviously, this person isn’t happy with the council and may have received an incorrect bill, but this is not the way forward.
“It’s very sad that this person thought this would help.
“If you have a problem, speak to local councillors and we can try to help.
“This is totally disrespectful and should not be encouraged.”
Gwynedd Council said they are preparing to clean any graffiti from public property and are discussing the matter with affected private property owners.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of graffiti that has been daubed on street signs and private property in the Stryd y Degwm (Tithebarn Street) area of Caernarfon.
“As this is serious criminal damage, the matter is being investigated by North Wales Police.”
PC 2983 Lliwen Jones said: “We are keen to identify the person responsible for writing the messages on the walls.”
