A shamed businessman has been jailed for threatening to burn a family in their home.
Steven Dickens made the threat to two brothers who run a kebab house and off-licence in Llandudno.
The 52-year-old stormed into Nibat and Nibet Ramazan Abdul Rahman King House takeaway on Upper Mostyn Street in June and said: “When am I having my shop back?”
The brothers, who are originally from Iraq, bought the off-licence from a former business partner of Mr Dickens, a court in Llandudno heard.
Prosecutor Diane Williams said Dickens, of Mostyn Avenue Llandudno, then asked: “Do you know who I am?”
He then pointed his finger at the pair and said: “I’m going to burn you and your family in your home.”
Lois Cullen, defending, said Dickens was “having a joke” and claimed to have been called a derogatory term by the brothers.
“He says this is a silly argument. He says there’s no further ill feeling,” she added.
Dickens, who appeared at court on video link from Altcourse jail, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and was jailed for 20 weeks.
District judge Gwyn Jones told Dickens: “This was an extremely unpleasant incident where you attended the store. There was a history with regard to the ownership of the store and you obviously knew that.”
Dickens was sentenced to eight months on August 2 for perverting the course of justice.
He tried to persuade a woman to drop her allegations of rape and assault against him.
He had denied three such charges but was found guilty of perverting the course of justice in June.
He was unanimously acquitted by a jury of the rape and assault charges after a trial in March last year.
