Llanelli,South Wales - Man had 'horrific images of infant torture' on his laptop

Jake Conleth Cannon was sentenced to 15 months to Swansea Crown Court
A MAN was caught with almost 2,000 indecent images of children as young as four including ones which were "the most horrific images of infant torture" the investigating officer had ever seen, a court has heard.
Jake Conleth Cannon said he amassed the collection of pictures and films to trade them online and make money.
A judge told him people who possessed and distributed such images were "continuing" the abuse the youngsters had suffered when the images had first been made.
Swansea Crown Court head that officers from Dyfed-Powys Police raided Cannon's house in Pleasant View, Felinfoel, Llanelli, in October last year following information received from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre.
Dean Pulling, prosecuting, said officers recovered three laptop computers from the address containing a total of 1,974 pictures and films, including 55 "Category A" images — the most extreme kind.
One of the laptops was displaying an email Cannon had received asking about images of children under seven, and his internet search histories showed he had been seeking such material, including images of child rape.
When interviewed, Cannon told officers he was trading the images online with other people and his motivation was "commercial as opposed to sexual gratification" — though he said he was yet to make any money from the enterprise.
Cannon, aged 22, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of distribution when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
The court heard that the police officer who found the pictures on the defendant's laptops said they were "the most horrific images of infant torture" he had seen in his eight years of service.
The court heard the images involved children aged between four and 14, both boys and girls.
John Hipkin, for Cannon, said his client instructed him that he would "undergo whatever treatment will be given to him by the authorities".
Recorder Peter Rouch QC said Cannon had collected images that contained "elements of torture and sadism", adding: "People who possess, view and distribute images of abuse of children are, in effect, continuing the abuse of the children concerned."
He sentenced Cannon to 15 months in prison for the distribution charge and to nine months for each of the three possession charges, the possession sentences to run concurrently with each other and concurrently with the lead sentence.
Cannon will also be on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and made the subject of Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same length of time.
