Police in Merthyr Tydfil are appealing for information after a robbery near Prince Charles Hospital on Monday morning.
A 40-year-old woman was approached from behind by an unknown man who pulled her to the ground by her rucksack and demanded money.
The man removed a £5 note and some loose change then made off towards the Gurnos Estate in the general direction of Gurnos Club.
The incident happened at 7.30am on the footpath running alongside the hospital’s perimeter fence.
Local accent
The man is described by police as white, about 5ft 7ins or 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build with fair facial hair around his mouth.
He wore a grey hooded top with white strings and a pair of grey jogging bottoms.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "He was believed to be in his mid to late 30s and spoke with a local accent."
