THERE were 102 incidents of violent crime and sexual offences in Swansea city centre in January alone, figures have revealed.

But January was far from unique.

The same area of Swansea saw 113 incidents of this type in December, 2015, and 115 in November, according to the figures on the Police.uk website.

But the January figure was substantially higher than the same month last year, when there were 66 offences. This equates to an increase of 55 per cent.

The Police.uk website pulls in data for various crime types, from burglary to possession of weapons.

It allows people to search for their street or postcode and look at what crimes have taken place there for any given month stretching back to 2010.
