Swansea,South Wales - Man put hand up woman's dress in Wind Street club in 'vile' attack

The incident took place at Peppermint on Wind Street
A MAN who put his hand up a woman's dress on a night out in Swansea called her a slut when she demanded he stop what he was doing.
Ian Paul Gladstone, of Berwick Road in Bynea, faced a charge of sexually assaulting the female, at Peppermint night club on Wind Street, when he appeared at Swansea Magistrates' Court.
The court had been told the 25-year-old targeted his victim while she was on a night out with friends in February. She had first felt a hand on her thigh, but thought it belonged to one of her friends. But she then felt the hand go up her dress and onto her buttock, and saw Gladstone removing his hand.
When she confronted him, he told her: 'Shut your mouth', and called her a derogatory term.
The court was also told that Gladstone was on bail for other 'matters not yet resolved'.
In an impact statement read to the court, Gladstone's victim said: "Since the incident took place, I have hardly slept. I am terrified that I will meet him again. He seemed so confident when he sexually assaulted me. He took me aback how he spoke to me when I challenged him.
"I will forever be apprehensive when I am in an enclosed environment".

Gladstone pleaded guilty to the charge when he returned to Swansea Magistrates' Court for sentencing, following the preparation of a pre-sentence report by the probation service.
David Williams, representing Gladstone, said his client had read the report, and they supported the recommendations proposed in it.
Sentencing Gladstone to a community order for 36 months, chairman of the bench Alun Williams said: "This is a vile and disgraceful attack.
"You invaded the privacy of someone who was out for the evening, and the court takes a dim view of that".
In addition to the community order, Gladstone was told he would have to undertake a rehabilitation activity requirement for forty days, as well as to take part on a community sexual offender group work programme.
Lisa Jones, prosecuting, had invited the court to consider compensation for his victim, and the court ordered Gladstone to pay her £100.
In addition, he was given a £50 fine, and ordered to pay £85 costs, and a victim surcharge of £60 — a total of £295.
He was also told he would have to sign on the sex offenders register.
