Police appeal after the excavator's windows were smashed on the popular Llanberis Path walking route

A digger parked half way up Snowdon has been trashed in a random attack.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to trace the culprits after the excavator was damaged on the Llanberis Path.
The machine belongs to the Snowdonia National Park Authority who is using it to carry out repairs on the popular walking route up Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. It is believed that the machine was targeted between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday.
North Wales Police spokeswoman said: “Police are urging walkers to cast their minds back to Saturday afternoon when damage was caused to an excavator located halfway up Snowdon.
“Sometime between 3pm and 6pm on Saturday, March 19th an excavator, belonging to the Snowdonia National Park Authority, had its windows smashed.
“The excavator, which was located on the Llanberis Path, was being used as part of ongoing maintenance by the Park Authority and the machine has had to be removed to be repaired.
“Due to the good weather on Saturday afternoon police are hoping somebody may have witnessed the incident as it was very busy in the area.
“Anybody with information is asked to contact North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number RC16040417 or alternatively please use the live web chat.”
