Abergavenny,South Wales - Police hunt thief who stole tent and assaulted woman while camping

Police are appealing for information after a 29-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted when her tent was stolen while she was camping in Abergavenny .

The incident happened over the Easter weekend near Abergavenny when the woman was lying next to her tent

Gwent Police say the incident happened on the grassland area off the Hardwick roundabout close to the railway bridge that leads to the A40.
The incident allegedly happened in the hours of darkness between Good Friday and EasterSaturday.
Police say the victim was lying next to a tent, which was put up at the time, when she was assaulted.

Theft and assault

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “A tent was stolen and in the process the victim was assaulted, causing injuries.
“She sustained bruising and swelling to her eye, cheek and leg.
“No car was identified or suspected to be involved.”
The suspect is described as a white man of muscular build and around 5ft 5ins tall, around 37 years old, with dark long hair and a distinctive scar on his face.
