A stash of dangerous drugs was buried in the sand on a Rhyl beach - with a single rose placed above it to denote its location.
A court heard  how CCTV  operators had become suspicious of the activities of two young men on the East Parade at Rhyl.
They watched as they went onto the beach in the resort and one of them was seen to bury something in the sand.
A youth then placed a plastic rose at the spot where the item had been buried.
Police arrested both men and when they went to the plastic rose found heroin and cocaine buried in the sand.
Anthony Murphy, aged 27, of Housley Close in Wigan, admitted possessing both class A drugs with intent to supply.
He had a previous conviction for drugs supply and was jailed for three years and eight months.
The youth, aged 17, admitted being concerned in the supply of drugs and he was placed on an 18 month rehabilitation order with supervision, drug testing, 200 hours unpaid work and he was sent on a “think again” programme.
The judge, Mr Recorder Timothy Petts, sitting at Mold Crown Court, said that class A drugs were “a menace to society” and those who dealt in them could expect lengthy sentences.
Prosecutor David Martin told how the drugs which were individually wrapped had an estimated value of £1,800 on the street.
The two defendants were from Wigan but were staying in a caravan at Rhyl.
Defending barrister Anna Price, for Murphy,  said her client had been going through a bad patch.
His partner thought he had gone on holiday to Wales and did not realise that he had gone back to his previous offending.
Andrew Green, for the youth, said that he was vulnerable teenager with educational difficulties who was easily led.
He was on a methadone prescription, had done well since his arrest, and with the assistance of the agencies hoped to get off drugs completely.
