An alarming number of cats have gone missing or been found dead dead on a Caernarfon estate, sparking fears that a gang is targeting the animals.
Worried residents of Maesincla have taken to Facebook to voice their fears about the missing cats, with some suggesting it might be more than a coincidence.
Over the past couple of weeks, a number of cats have disappeared or been found dead or injured, with residents concerned they may have been shot or poisoned.
Town councillor Maria Sarnacki, who represents the Cadnant ward in Caernarfon, says 39 cats have gone missing or been killed or injured since last summer.

Karen Bohana, of Maes Gwynedd, said two of her cats have vanished since August.
The 35-year-old, who says she has heard gunshots in the area, has been told by neighbours that they have seen three people out with lurchers and air rifles late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
She said: “I’ve heard from three people that they have seen three boys/men with lurchers and air rifles in the last few weeks.
“During these weeks, three cats have been found dead, one has been injured, and three have gone missing.
“To me, it’s too much of a coincidence that all these cats have been found dead or missing since people have seen this gang.”

Karen’s tabby Nellie disappeared in August, and and her cat Motto went missing four weeks ago.
“On two separate occasions, I have heard gunshots in the early hours of the morning,” she said.
“The first one was two weeks ago and the other was Friday night.
“It’s becoming a big issue around the estate.”

Cllr Sarnacki said: “Cats are going missing and there have been a few found dead.
“One looked like it had been attacked and one was taken to a vet only last week. The vet said it was poisoned.
“It’s horrible what’s going on.
“I’ve got a cat myself and my next-door neighbours have got three.
“People on the estate are now too scared to let their cats out at night.
“Kids going to school don’t want to see a dead or injured cat on the side of the road.
“I’ve reported this to the RSPCA and notified the local PCSO, Jonathan Peris-Jones.”
A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: “The RSPCA is very saddened to hear about cats allegedly being reported missing and discovered dead or injured.
“We would urge anyone with any information about these incidents or similar incidents in the area to contact the RSPCA cruelty appeal line on 0300 123 8018. Calls will be treated in confidence.”
A meeting will take place to discuss the problem and a possible course of action at the Maesincla Centre at 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 16.
All residents are welcome to attend and the police and RSPCA have been invited.
Anyone with information about the incidents should call North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
