A car was turned into a fireball in the latest arson attack in Wrexham , prompting outraged locals to say "enough is enough".
Dramatic photos show flames and smoke billowing into the air as firefighters battled to extinguish the vehicle on Victoria Road, Brynteg.
It was destroyed during the attack at 5.20am which also spread to another nearby car causing minor damage.
New Broughton county councillor Alan Edwards said: "Enough is enough, the fear is that somebody is going to get killed."
The North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they believed the cause of the blaze was "deliberate ignition".
That revelation angered cllr Edwards who called on the police to do all they can to track down those responsible.
He said: "If it's teenagers, they may think its a prank, but the consequences of these actions could be terrible.
"The police and the courts need to take tougher action and hand out stiff sentences for those that are caught."
A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were called to the fire at 5.20am. It caused 100% damage to the car and 5% to another car nearby.
“We sent one appliance from Wrexham to extinguish the blaze and used two hose reel jets, one foam jet, small tools and a thermal imaging camera.
“An investigation concluded it was suspected deliberate ignition.”
The blaze was finally put out just before 6pm.
It is the latest in a string of arson attacks which has plagued Wrexham.
Arsonists struck five times in January in one night targeting vehicles and bins, in Acton, Penycae and Smithfield.
A timber castle at the Venture playground on Caia Park also torched during January, which had to be demolished.
Last month North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Winston Roddick announcedWrexham Council was getting a war chest of £10,000 to combat the “epidemic” of arson attacks.
Another car was targeted the day after.
Police and fire chiefs have continually warned of the dangers which tie up precious resources and endanger lives.
Kevin Jones, arson reduction manager for the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service has said: “This is a serious issue. Not only is it extremely upsetting for the owners of the vehicles damaged, but it could potentially be life-threatening.
“ Deliberate fires are a serious form of anti-social behaviour with potentially lethal consequences, and we are working closely with the police and other partner agencies in the area to try and tackle the problem.”
Anybody with information on arson attacks should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
