Rhondda Cynon Taf,South Wales - Blind pony brutally slashed in a knife attack

Moe the pony before the attack
The owner of a pony which was brutally slashed in a knife attack last week has been overwhelmed by kind donations to help pay for vet bills.
James Davies, 31, from Ynysybwl, said he was “absolutely shocked” when he received a call that his partially-blind pony Moe had been attacked on Friday – and the much-loved two-year-old pet sustained horrific injuries to his neck and back.
A Just Giving donations page has been set up by Moe’s owners so people can contribute to his veterinary bills if they wish – and more than £540 has been given in 24 hours.

'Absolutely shocked'

On Facebook, a page called ‘Justice for moe’ was created so the family could keep people up to date with the pony’s recovery, and it has been liked more than 1,000 times.
Owner James said: “I was absolutely shocked, to be honest, when I found out about the injuries.
“It didn’t sink in until Sunday, and I didn’t sleep Friday and Saturday nights.
“My daughter discovered the horse’s injuries. I’d gone to work, and my daughter was seeing to the horses that morning – I usually do it in the mornings.
“The horse has now been moved to a secure location, because I think whoever has done this tried to kill her.
“It’s a small community where I live, and you don’t hear of stuff like this going on.”
South Wales Police are still investigating the incident, with Sergeant Ben Rowe saying the incident is “clearly very concerning” and that police are doing everything they can to identify those responsible.

'Outstanding' support

James added: “Moe is getting treatment from the vets now.
“The support we’ve had has been outstanding. I didn’t think people would support us as much as they have – the story has been all over the news.
“The money raised will pay for vet bills, and if we have any money left over we’ll buy security cameras for the field.
