Nizar Melhem Eido pleaded guilty to a public order offence at Swansea Magistrates Court
AN ANGRY motorist confronted a taxi driver with a snooker cue in a road rage incident in Swansea's Maritime Quarter, a court has heard.
Nizar Melhem Eido and the cabbie began swinging punches at each other near the car park on East Burrows Road on the evening of February 17.
The court heard the driver felt he had been "cut up" by the taxi driver and lost his temper.
Swansea Magistrates' Court heard that a witness walking over the nearby Sail Bridge from SA1 heard the sound of car horns and saw a Vauxhall Astra car pulling in front of a cab and blocking its way.
The witness described the drivers of both vehicles then becoming involved in a heated "face-to-face" altercation during which punches were thrown — though none connected.
The court heard the witness had described both men as being "as bad as each other" during the confrontation.
The court was told Eido then went to the boot of his car and picked up the end of a snooker cue which he waved towards the cabbie.

The taxi driver went into a nearby flat and Eido got into his car and drove off.
The incident was reported to police and Eido's Astra was stopped in Sketty.
Eido, aged 44, of Cil y Coed, Waunarlwydd, pleaded guilty to a public order offence when he appeared before justices.
The court heard the defendant has no previous convictions.
Dan Griffiths, for Eido, said his client felt he had been "cut up" by the taxi driver prior to the incident, and had lost his temper.
The solicitor said he had to concede the use of the snooker cue was an aggravating factor, but said it had only been "brandished in the air in order to scare" the taxi driver.
He added that the incident was impulsive and was out of character for his client.
Magistrates fined Eido £200 and told him to pay £85 prosecution costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
