Detectives are continuing to investigate the death of a woman found dead in a Cardiff Bayflat.
A man, aged 66, is currently being held by police on suspicion of murder after the 65-year-old woman was discovered dead in a flat in the Century Wharf complex on Wednesday afternoon.
A spokesman for South Wales Police yesterday issued an appeal for witnesses and disclosed the force had voluntarily referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The block of flats is close to Cardiff Bay police station:
The woman has not yet been named but her next of kin have been informed and the investigation into her death continues.
A police spokesman said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number *072884."
The woman's death was one of two alleged murders reported in the city in the space of 24 hours.
On Thursday morning officers were called to reports of a stabbing in the Ely area of the city and a man died at the scene.
Two men, aged 37 and 58, were arrested on suspicion of murder.
There is no suggestion the alleged murders are in any way linked.
