POLICE in Swansea are issuing a warning to motorists to keep their vehicles locked and secure at all times after a spate of opportunist thefts.
Six vehicles were targeted in Sketty and Bishopston on Thursday night, with a number of items stolen from within.
Police have stepped up patrols in the areas in response to the incidents.
South Wales Police Inspector Paul Thomas said it was thought an opportunist thief or thieves had been walking the streets "trying their luck" and looking for unlocked cars.

The inspector appealed for people to ensure their cars and vans were kept locked.
He said: "We are following up lines of enquiry to trace the person responsible and extra patrols are being carried out in the area.
"The suspect has walked around the streets of Sketty and Bishopston trying their luck on car door handles and taking any property which is left inside.
"Our advice is to remove all valuables and always keep windows and doors locked and secure. This will significantly reduce the chances of you becoming a victim of crime."
