POLICE executed a search warrant at the home of a Rhyl man after his son-in-law suspected that he might have been accessing child porn, a court head. When Ian Watson’s laptop was examined it was found to contain a total of 74 images and when interviewed he immediately admitted responsibility.
Prosecutor James Neary told Prestatyn magistrates that only one of the images was classed as category A, the most serious, five were category B and 68 category C, and all were of young girls.
Watson, aged 66, of Weaver Avenue, pleaded guilty to committing four offences between 2011 and February, 2015, and his solicitor Roger Thomas said he had already sought an agency’s help for his problem.
Mr Neary said that although most cases involving Category A images were heard in crown court the case was suitable for summary hearing because only one image was found, Watson had a clean record and he had admitted his guilt.
The case was adjourned until March 23 for a pre-sentence report and Watson must register as a sex offender.
