A horse rider says she held on to her life and watched in horror as a Doberman charged towards them, biting and ripping the skin off her horse’s leg.
Mandy Dyson was riding her Welsh section D cob cross thoroughbred, Poppy, on Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog on Tuesday with her mother, Denise, who was on her horse, Missy.
But as Mandy and Poppy made their way from the sea, she says a Doberman which was on the nearby dunes made a beeline for her horse.

Denise, a former horse trainer, said: “I could see it all happening and Mandy and I tried screaming at the dog.
“The owner ran over and was trying to catch the dog but it was impossible.
“Poppy was spinning around and kicking and Mandy was hysterical.
“The dog was biting Poppy all over her underbelly and her legs. It was like something you see on TV. Its teeth were showing and it was salivating.
“It just ripped the skin off and Poppy’s lower leg is almost down to the bone.”
Poppy had to have 12 stitches to her upper leg and her lower leg has been bandaged
Mandy eventually jumped off the horse and Poppy ran away towards the road and the dog disappeared.
In her panic Denise decided to ride to the entrance of the beach and there she came face to face with the Doberman once again.
Denise added: “The owner drove to the entrance and when he saw the dog there he leapt out of the car and jumped on the dog and put it inside the car.
“He was really shocked and kept apologising for what had happened.
