AN Anglesey man who bit his victim's ear received a 15 months suspended jail term from a judge who said his mental health "contributed significantly" to what he did.
Robert Rowlands, aged 48, of Roland Street, Holyhead, admitted causing grievous bodily harm to Stephen Condra.
Judge Geraint Walters at Caernarfon crown court told him: "There was no justification at all for what you did.
“Mercifully, his ear injury has pretty much resolved due to the handy work of doctors."
Twelve months mental health treatment was ordered and a rehabilitation activity.
"It's make or break time for you," the judge said to Rowlands.
Prosecutor Emmalyne Downing said the men had been at a Holyhead pub a year ago when Rowlands grabbed the glasses worn by a friend of Mr Condra.
There was trouble when Mr Condra asked for them and the pair ended up on the floor where the biting occurred.
The victim's hand was also broken and in January he was still taking medication for pain, the prosecutor added.
Sarah Griffin, defending, said Rowlands received state benefits.
