POLICE investigating an armed robbery on a bookmakers have released CCTV images of a suspect.
The robber walked into the Betfred betting office on Caerleon Road, Newport, at around 9.20pm on Saturday and pulled a weapon on staff before demanding cash.
Police have issued a description of a man they want to talk to - he is described as being white, around 5ft 9in to 5ft 11in tall, of a medium to stocky build, and possibly aged in his 40s. He described as talking with a Midlands accent - but not a Birmingham one.
Officers said the staff in the bookies were not seriously injured but that it was "extremely distressing" for those involved.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "The man entered the store just prior to closing time armed with what is described as a silver handgun.
"He demanded money from the staff in the store before leaving with a quantity of cash from the till.
"The investigation into this incident is continuing and increased patrols are in the area at present to reassure the community.
"We are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can help to identify the offender and would ask anyone with information to call police."
