A HOLIDAYMAKER struck three women in a Llandudno kebab shop – with one knocked unconscious – in scenes described as the Wild West by a judge.
Simon Wakelin, aged 26, a scaffolder from Wesley Castle in Birmingham, punched and kicked at the Mostyn Street takeaway in the early hours of January 24.
Prosecutor Emmalyne Downing told Mold Crown Court Wakelin was pushed away by a doorman but later returned, picked up a crutch and began to swing it in an uncontrolled manner at the women and through the ceiling tiles.
All three suffered unpleasant injuries and one lost consciousness.
Interviewed, Wakelin said he was celebrating his birthday and alleged a woman approached his fiancée in an aggressive manner.
It ended up three against one, he claimed, saying he pulled one off and when she allegedly punched him he punched her back and tried to pull the others apart.
He denied using the crutch as a weapon.
Defending barrister Sion ap Mihangel said reliable, hard worker Wakelin was very sorry for the way that he had behaved and admitted the affray.
Judge Rhys Rowlands said he initially got involved to protect his girlfriend what followed was “totally disgraceful behaviour” akin to the Wild West.
Wakelin received a ten month prison sentence suspended for two years, 200 hours unpaid work, costs of £250 and a £100 surcharge.
He must pay £400 to one victim and £250 each to the other two.
