A MAN has been jailed after being convicted of multiple sex assaults.
Carl John Lewis Gleave, 30, of Clwyd Avenue, Greenfield, was found guilty at Mold Crown Court last month of five counts of sexual assault but cleared of a further two counts of rape dating back to between 2007 and 2010.
Judge Rhys Rowlands, who had warned him to expect an immediate custodial sentence “of some length”, jailed him for two-and-a-half years and he was ordered to register with the police as a sex offender for a decade.
During a two-day trial Elen Owen, prosecuting, said on the first occasion Gleave had approached one of his victims asking if she would cheat on her boyfriend before massaging her shoulders and attempting to kiss her.
It was said that on another occasion, Gleave felt the breast of the same woman and grabbed her by the hips to pull her on to his knee. He would also make lewd comments about a picture of his victim, Miss Owen said.
Gleave also targeted another woman. He tickled her around the ribs “painfully” and pinched her chin on one occasion before giggling and asking “you don't like it when I do that do you?” She replied: “No.”
Approaching the second victim again, Gleave slid a ruler across her thigh to lift up her clothing before removing it and giggling.
On a third occasion, Gleave approached his second victim and groped her breast again.
Ben Douglas-Jones, defending, suggested the incidents had not taken place.
Judge Rowlands said Gleave had targeted “young and vulnerable” women and had taken advantage of them.
