AN abandoned boat that was destroyed in a blaze four years ago is to finally be removed from Conwy beach.
The 40 foot fishing boat, known as the Grey Lady, has been on the beach at Conwy since February 2012.

Conwy Council have confirmed that they are in the process of removing the boat. A spokesman said: "Operations to remove the wreck of the Grey Lady started on Monday June 13 and are scheduled to last for 3 weeks.

“Contractors will be using a work vessel and barge to remove the wreck in sections."

Janet Finch-Saunders, AM for Aberconwy, who had been campaigning for the removal of the boat, said: "The wreck has been something of an eyesore to residents and tourists, and is a potential target for arson, with a number of incidents being witnessed over the years.

"I have been concerned at the vulnerability this has posed to local properties, and am pleased to understand that removal of this boat will commence this month.

“I know a number of local residents will be thrilled by this news, and I look forward to process being completed so that we are able to once again enjoy a clean and safe beach.
