Caerphilly.South Wales - This car got wedged in a tunnel as the driver tried to get away from police

A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly failing to stop before this car got wedged in a tunnel.

The car got wedged after police pursued a car that had failed to stop

Officers from Gwent Police made an arrest in the early hours of Wednesday morning while they were on patrol in Caerphilly.
The police attempted to stop a vehicle to conduct checks on the vehicle and driver.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said that the vehicle initially stopped but when officers approached it drove off.

A pursuit of the car then followed as speeds reached 78mph and continued for approximately seven minutes.
The pursuit came to an end when the vehicle entered The Crescent, Caerphilly and continued down the footpath underneath a railway bridge towards Churchill Park where the vehicle got wedged in the tunnel and blocked the footpath
Areas Support West Inspector, Gavin Clifton said: “The driver, a 27-year-old man, from the Caerphilly area, was arrested, he failed a roadside drug test and was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, disqualified driving and failing to stop.
"He later refused to provide a specimen of blood for analysis – he is currently in police custody.”
