A number of officers have descended on Hawarden Road in Colwyn Bay,  where it is reported that a man has been attacked

Traffic

Traffic is reported to be easing on the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Supension Bridge along with the usual places in the Wrexham area

Forensic examination

Stable condition

I am told the victim is in a stable condition in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd after the attack.

Witness appeal

Detective Inspector Chris Bell said:
“Our investigations are in their early stages and we urge anyone who was in the vicinity of Hawarden Road this afternoon and witnessed anything which they believe could assist us to please contact detectives at St Asaph CID on 101 quoting reference number U086737.”

Victim of attack

Welsh Ambulance service

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at about 2.55pm to reports of an incident on Hawarden Road, Colwyn Bay.
“The Wales Air Ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance attended the scene and a man was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.”

Police corden

The police cordon on Hawarden Road runs from the corner of Barclays Bank to just past the book shop.

Man given first name - reports

According to our reporter on the scene, there are rumours a man named locally as Mick was attacked at the book shop.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Location of attack

Police are focusing their attention on the bookshop at the tip of Hawarden Road, where the attack is thought to have taken place.

Nearby business owner speaks about emergency services

One nearby business owner tells me there was a rush of police to the scene at about 3pm, roughly six police cars and an ambulance.

North Wales Police

The force cannot confirm or deny if a weapon was involved in the attack this afternoon.

Enquiries in their early stages

Officers are undertaking house to house enquiries near the scene of the attack on Hawarden Road.

Victim taken to hospital

According to North Wales Police the victim has been taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd in Bodelwyddan having “sustained an injury.”

I am awaiting more information from the ambulance service. 

Witness appeal

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward, the attack is reported to have taken place at roughly 2.45pm.

Mayor "concerned" by reports

Mayor Sibani Roy, who works at the bookshop which is at the centre of police activity, is “very concerned” about the reports of a man being attacked in the town centre.

Police presence

There are four police cars and a forensic van at the bookshop where the attack is believed to have taken place.

Police comment

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “We were alerted at around 2.50pm today (Monday, June 13) that a man had been attacked in Hawarden Road, Colwyn Bay.
“Officers are in the area dealing with the incident and as it is in the early stages there are no further details available at this time.
“Anyone with information relating to the incident should contact officers on 101 quoting ref U086737.”

Man attacked

A man has been attacked in Colwyn Bay, according to police.
The incident took place in Hawarden Street at around 2.50 pm, and there has been a heavy build of police in the area since.
It is not known whether the victim is seriously injured, or what type of attack took place, although the Daily Post is receiving reports it may have been an elderly man who has been attacked.
