Police are hunting the sick thug who bludgeoned a three-day old calf to death with a piece of wood in Old Colwyn.
The calf was found by a farmer today at Llanelian, Old Colwyn , with compact wounds to its skull, with its mother standing near it.
It is believed the female was struck at least twice on the head, using a piece of wood as a weapon.
Sergeant Rob Taylor, in charge of North Wales Police ’s rural crime team, said it was a “barbaric and senseless act”.
“It saddens and still shocks me the depth of depravity that some humans will sink to and commit such callous acts,” he said.
Police were called to the farm this afternoon (Tuesday) after the calf was discovered and police believe the incident is likely to have occurred last night (Monday).
The heifer would be worth about £500 but it is not the monetary value which has shocked officers.
“We are appalled at this barbaric and senseless act and we will investigate it thoroughly,” said Sgt Taylor.
“The injuries are consistent with being hit by a blunt instrument which was left at the scene.
“This is an horrific and brutal offence and we are appealing to the public for any information, especially from residents of Old Colwyn near to the football club.
“It’s possibly been a couple of blows to the head, not a sudden death unfortunately.
“it has happened between last night and this morning. We suspect yesterday evening.”
Anyone with information regarding the incident can call North Wales Police on 101, quoting reference number U091084.
