Firefighters were called to the scene at 2.15am in Ronald Road, Newport

This terrifying image shows the scene after a caravan was deliberately set on fire in Newport in the early hours of Monday.

Fire fighters were called to the scene at 2.15am to the incident on Ronald Road, where a crew from Maindee worked to extinguish the blaze.

According to the caravan's owner, Paul Bright, both his caravan and car, which was parked next to it, were destroyed in the blaze, but he said no one was injured during the incident.

Jennie Griffiths, from South Wales Fire service, said: "A caravan deliberately set on fire damaged an adjacent vehicle on Ronald Road Newport at 02.15 Maindee crew attended 2BAs+hosereels used."

Paul Bright later tweeted: "All credit to Fire Service for quick response. My caravan & car destroyed, thankfully no one hurt."
