Nicola Jane Wilkins pleaded guilty to assault at Swansea Magistrates Court
A DRUNKEN woman who punched a stranger in the head in an unprovoked afternoon attack in Swansea city centre has been jailed.
The victim — a woman from Neath — said the incident had put her off visiting the city in the future.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard that the victim was sitting on a bench near the Burger King restaurant on Union Street when she was approached by Nicola Jane Wilkins and a man who began talking to her, asking for cigarettes and "making her feel uncomfortable".
Wilkins then punched her in the head before walking off.
The court heard the woman told security staff at the nearby Quadrant shopping centre what had happened, and the police were called.
When Wilkins was arrested a short time later, police found she was "highly intoxicated" - and her cautioned response to officers was to ask them for a cannabis cigarette.

Wilkins, aged 39, of Baptist Well Place, Waun Wen, Swansea, pleaded guilty to assault by beating on May 12 when she appeared in court.
The court heard Wilkins "has a drink problem" and can consumer 24 cans of beer a day, and was subject to a 12 month community order for a previous assault when she punched the stranger.
District judge Neil Thomas, sitting at the magistrates court, said Wilkins had been guilty of an "unsolicited assault on a member of the public" who was minding her own business.
He told the defendant: "People are entitled to come to town and enjoy themselves without being confronted by this sort of behaviour."
The judge revoked the existing community order and sentenced the defendant to 16 weeks in prison.
