Travellers have set up camp on one of Rhyl’s biggest car parks, during one of the seaside town’s busiest weekends of the year.
Rhyl councillor Joan Butterfield has described the news as “hugely disappointing and frustrating”.
Around nine caravans drove into the car park on East Parade between the RNLI lifeboat station and the Sun Centre late on Friday night.
The car park will also be used by those taking part in Rhyl’s Race for Life on Sunday with hundreds expected to take part in the charity run which starts at 11am.
Also this weekend the town is hosting a variety of events to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
“This is very bad news as this weekend was all about showcasing what the town has achieved over the last 18 months,” said Cllr Butterfield.

“As well as Race for Life the town is hosting tea parties, the bridge is being lit up all red, white and blue and the world’s smallest cinema is coming here.
“This news is so frustrating and disappointing, and we won’t be able to get rid of them very quickly.
“I think it will be seven days even if Denbighshire serves an eviction order on Monday.”
She added: “Rhyl Town Council has spent a fortune over the last year and a half, and things are improving.
“But this kind of thing doesn’t help with the town’s image at all.”
