A MAN who bit the skin off his cousin and kicked his former partner in the head carried out a "pre-meditated revenge"attack.
Jake Roberts, 21, was described by Judge Niclas Parry as a “dangerously violent young man” after he attacked his cousin Alex Carrington and former partner Zoe Richards after the pair had stayed together.
Roberts, of The Close, Greenfield, Holywell, appeared via video link at Mold Crown Court on Friday where he was jailed for four years and eight months after admitting causing grievous bodily harm and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Karl Scholz, prosecuting, told the court that Miss Roberts, whose eight month relationship with Roberts had ended, stayed with Mr Carrington on the night of April 2.
The following day, Roberts called Mr Carrington demanding to know what had happened and threatening to kick the door down on his home.
Roberts then arrived at the address and when Mr Carrington came outside, Roberts twice punched him in the face before gripping him with his teeth and tearing an area of skin from his cousin.
Roberts punched Mr Carrington again before walking away and threatening to “cut him up”.
Mr Scholz said Roberts posted on Mr Carrington’s Facebook page that he was lucky he had not sliced his face and made references to attacking his cousin’s mother.
The prosecuting barrister added that on April 18, police were called to a pub in Caerwys following reports of a woman running in without shoes and covered in facial injuries – that was said to be Miss Richards.
Miss Richards was taken to hospital with “significant facial injuries” as well as damage to her ribs.
She told police her former partner had inflicted the injuries but refused to give his name as she told officers Roberts had punched and kicked her in the head and attempted to strangle her, causing her to pass out.
Miss Richards required surgery to her left eye lid as it had ripped in the attack.
Mr Scholz said despite the relationship between the pair ending some time before, Miss Richards had agreed to meet with Roberts on April 16 when the attack took place.
Miss Richards told police Roberts had also spat on her, attempted to cut her hair with scissors and believed he was going to kill her.
The prosecutor added that Roberts boasted about the police’s inability to apprehend him. When he was arrested on April 23, he was abusive towards officers during interview.
Desmond Lennon, defending, said Roberts was sorry and regretted what had happened.
Mr Lennon added it had been a “spontaneous loss of temper”.
He had “just lost it” with Mr Carrington and Miss Richards because he had been at a “low ebb”.
Passing down sentence, Judge Parry said Roberts was “a dangerously violent young man”.
He said the defendant carried out a “pre-meditated revenge” and a “sustained attack that caused
serious injury”.
Judge Parry added Roberts had viciously attacked a female who was “terrified for her life”.
As well as the jail sentence, a restraining order was imposed on Roberts preventing him from contacting either victim directly or indirectly via third party or by social media.
