THE coroner is investigating the “sudden death” of a man found near a church in Wrexham.
Police said the body of the 34-year-old man was found in woodland near Capel y Groes Church.
Insp Ceri Hawe, of North Wales Police, said: “We are investigating the sudden death of a 34-year-old male who was found in a wooded area by Capel y Groes Church in Wrexham at 10pm on Tuesday.
“Colleagues from the ambulance service also attended but sadly the man in question was pronounced dead.
“The circumstances around the man’s death are unknown at this time. His family have been informed.”
A spokesman for North Wales Police later said the death was not being treated as suspicious and that John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, had been informed.
The land the body was found on is owned by Wrexham Council.
Cllr Hugh Jones, Wrexham Council, lead member for Communities and Partnerships, said: “While this is clearly sad news and we extend our sympathy to the family of the deceased, it is not appropriate for the council to comment while there is an ongoing police investigation.”
Anybody with information about the incident is asked to call 101 quoting reference number U079220.
