A MAN found with indecent images of children has been spared prison.
A judge told Calum Iain MacDougall it was a stark choice between a relatively short custodial sentence and a very long sentence in the community to try to address his problems.
He had decided to place him on an onerous three-year community order with rehabilitation and on an internet sex offender programme.
MacDougall was placed on the sex offender register for five years and a
five-year sexual harm prevention order was also made.
Mold Crown Court heard his former partner was shocked to find indecent images of children on his mobile phone.
When she challenged him, MacDougall, 26, begged her not to tell the police.
The court heard yesterday how the police were informed and they found indecent images and movies on his phone and laptop.
There were also chat logs which he admitted were fantasy conversations with others and they had also shared indecent images of children.
But the true extent of the offending was not known because he had not provided the correct user name and passwords for his Dropbox and Kik Messenger cloud

Children in the images were aged between four and 15.
MacDougall, who has a child with his partner, has since left his Mold home and is living in Hill Court, Wrexham.
MacDougall admitted possessing 26 images – 12 at category A, five at category B and nine at category C - on his mobile, and a further 10 on his laptop – four category A, three category B and three category C.
He further admitted one charge of distributing a category C image.
The court was told that at the time of the offences between January and July of last year MacDougall was living with his partner and young baby.
One night in July his partner got up in the night, saw his phone on charge and when she glanced at it noticed a kick message app.
When she opened the app, she saw indecent chat logs between him and other users.
There were indecent photographs and movies within his Dropbox account, she confronted him and he asked her not to contact the police.
He accepted he was in possession of indecent images and said he would get whateverhelp he could.

Police arrived, he was arrested and his laptop and mobile phone were seized.
Interviewed, he admitted he had the two accounts, that he had fantasy conversations with other people and they shared abuse images of children. He had viewed indecent images of children himself.
Defence barrister Andrew Green said his client had been open and volunteered that it had been going on for about 18 months.

He would find custody a very unpleasant experience and nothing would have been done to address the problem.
Mr Green urged the court to impose a community order. His client was willing to co-operate.
Judge Rowlands said they were very serious offences and all right thinking people would find them disturbing.
He said he would draw back from immediate custody but warned that if he breached the order then he would be sent to prison.
