Conwy,North Wales - Firefighters still tackling huge Conwy gorse fire after more than 30 hours

Crews have been on the scene at Allt Wen in Dwygyfylchi since Saturday night

Firefighters are continuing to tackle a massive gorse fire which has been burning for more than 30 hours.
The huge blaze was first seen on Allt Wen in Dwygyfylchi at about 10.30pm on Saturday.
Fire crews have been at the scene ever since to battle the blaze and make sure it does not re-ignite.
At one stage on Sunday, fire crews from seven different stations across North Wales were attending the blaze.Tinder-dry gorse was turned to airborne ash in seconds, as what looked like an inferno in some places advanced in a mile-wide arc.
Police closed Sychnant Pass between Capelulo and Crows Nest Hall, and fire chiefs also advised residents to close windows and doors.
A spokeswoman for North Wales Fire service said this morning: “They are still firefighting a small area.
“One crew has been there overnight and another will go there this morning.
“Overnight they were mostly making sure parts did not re-ignite, but when it became light again they could tackle it.”
On Sunday, crews from Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, Abergele, Conwy, Denbigh, Bangor and Llanrwst were in attendance at the fire.
The alarm was raised at 10.45pm on Saturday and four fire crews attended until 2.20am.
They were scrambled again at 6.20am on Sunday and were joined by reinforcements throughout the day.
North Wales Police also has a presence at the site.
There is still no indication from fire bosses as to how the blaze began.
