MORE than two dozen people have been arrested across Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot in a series of police raids.
The day-long blitz by officers in South Wales Police's western division - including armed officers - saw arrests for a range of suspected offences including domestic violence, assault, theft, skipping bail and breaking prison release conditions.
Wednesday also saw a drugs raid in Pontarddulais carried out as a joint operation with officers from the Avon and Somerset Police regional crime squad.
Officers also took the chance during the day to raise awareness of domestic violence, how it can be reported, and the range of specialist help and advice available to victims.
By 11pm last night some 25 people had been arrested.
South Wales Police sergeant Andrew Harris, who co-ordinated the operation, said: "This operation was about targeting individuals wanted for various crimes and disrupting the activities of those involved in crime, with particular focus this time on domestic abuse.
"We also took the opportunity to raise awareness of how the public can report domestic violence and signposting them to the range of organisations who can help.
"Tackling crime and arresting suspects is very much daily business for us but these days of action bring together a range of different teams to work together to target individuals."
She added: "The latest Operation Barracuda day of action was a success in taking action against individuals involved in various forms of criminality across our area."
Along with the enforcement action, neighbourhood policing teams visited areas across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to give crime prevention advice.
The last Operation Barracuda "day of action" at the beginning of June saw 32 arrests for a range of offences from theft to burglary and assault.
A series of swoops in May led to 25 people arrested and the seizure of cash, drugs and luxury cars including a Porsche and a Jaguar.
