A PENSIONER has been warned that he faces a substantial prison sentence after he was convicted of historic sex offences against a little girl.
Gary Hopkins, of Bromfield Park in Mold, denied three specimen charges dating back to the 1990s.
The offences related to a period when he was in his fifties and the victim aged between eight and 12.
Mold Crown Court was told Hopkins, 74, denied a charge of indecency with a child and two charges of indecent assault.
A jury returned guilty verdicts yesterday afternoon.
The judge, Mr Recorder Gregg Bull QC, agreed to grant him bail pending sentence next month but warned that he faced a substantial prison term.
The victim, now a woman in her late 20s, told the jury how the defendant would abuse her as a child.
He would pay her small amounts of money to do things sexually to him, she said.
Hopkins claimed that no such thing had ever happened.
John Hedgecoe, defending, said his client denied all the allegations.
