A LLANELLI woman who threatened to stab her partner in the heart in a phone call to police has appeared in court.
Petrina Marie Phillips pleaded guilty to resisting a constable in the execution of his duty at Llanelli Magistrates' Court.
The 38-year-old was charged with willfully obstructing PC Bella from February 29 to March 3. The court heard that the Clos Cilsaig resident phoned Dyfed-Powys Police and threatened to stab her partner on March 1.
When they arrived at the address the defendant wouldn't initially let officers in and denied anything was wrong, mitigating solicitor Richard Morgan said.
The court also heard that Phillips showed them the knife she had in her hand and said she "hadn't done anything wrong", Mr Morgan added.
The probation officer outlined the events to the court saying: "On March 1 this year she obstructed the police in the line of duty. She telephoned them telling them she would stab her partner in the heart.
"Prior to the events she tells me she had been drinking heavily and taken medication for epilepsy and depression. She felt her life was spiraling out of control. There were various things going on."
The court heard that there had also been an attempted suicide by Phillips which resulted in a fire at the couple's Gwalia accommodation.
The probation officer said: "The fire brigade came out and she was fully aware of the risks to her neighbours if it had caught fire."
The probation officer said it was "important to recognise that she has taken steps to abstain from alcohol and is making great progress in addressing her issues", adding that Phillips "couldn't remember making the threats against her partner or much about that night".
Mitigating solicitor Richard Morgan said his client didn't deny the offence in interview and pleaded guilty at the first opportunity. Mr Morgan said: "She had been depressed. She was a kickboxer and she fractured her knee and she became so depressed she started drinking. She has been out of trouble since March."
Magistrates made Phillips subject to a 12 month community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement. She was also fined £50, and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £85.
