Let's be honest about this, the Council have done far worse than this over the years! Try the demolition of the Grange Hotel, The Pavilion, The Fun Fair and all of the compulsory purchases of houses for demolition, so in comparison, this is nothing on the scale!
Vandals have slashed brand new hoardings surrounding the former Honey Club site in Rhyl.
Boards advertising the imminent development of the Premier Inn hotel and Brewer’s Fayre restaurant were put up last month, but were vandalised earlier this week.
In an email to local councillors, an officer in charge of leisure and redevelopment says: “You will have no doubt seen the Premier Inn hoardings have been vandalised.
“Someone has taken a knife and/or a Stanley knife to them.
“We will endeavour to have them repaired once. If they are damaged again however, we won’t be replacing the images as neither we nor Premier Inn can afford to waste money.
“Sun centre hoardings go up later this month, hopefully they will not be vandalised.”
On Facebook, one resident commented: “This is disgusting. Rhyl is really turning a corner with new investment and the majority of people want our town to succeed.
“Shame on whoever did this.”
Another wrote: “When I drove past, they’ve all been ripped, it looked a right mess.”
Work is set to start on building the new hotel on Rhyl’s West Parade, ready for its opening next summer.
Planning consent was granted in May for a 70-bedroom hotel, Brewers Fayre restaurant and 71 parking spaces at the Honey Club site.
Around 50 local jobs will be created, as well as additional roles during construction.
