Administrators said they were closing the site due to 'health and safety' concerns

A popular Denbighshire hotel has closed and all bookings cancelled due to “health and safety” concerns after administrators moved in to take over the site.
Administrators arrived at the Wild Pheasant hotel in Llangollen at 12noon - telling workers and guests it was being closed and they had to leave the building immediately.
Staff said they were left “shocked and furious” about the sudden closure and had to help guests find alternative accommodation.
Now bookings for future events like weddings and conferences have been cancelled and workers made redundant.
There are up to 30 staff employed at the hotel site which was put up for sale in June for £2.25m.
A kitchen staff member said: “I was working in the kitchen when someone came in and told us the hotel was closing, they said to grab your stuff and leave. I picked up my knives and left.
“We were just in shock, we had no idea this was coming. There were guests in the hotel and we have two coach parties booked for this evening and weddings booked over summer.
“People were trying to find alternative rooms for guests.

“Staff were just stood outside, we were shocked and furious as we had been given no warning of this.
“We now need to find new jobs.”
A spokeswoman for Duff & Phelps said: “Steve Muncaster and Sarah Bell, managing Directors of Duff & Phelps, have been appointed Joint Administrators of O&S Hotels Ltd, which trades as The Wild Pheasant Hotel in Llangollen, North Wales.
“As of today, the 46 bedroom hotel has been closed due to health and safety concerns and all existing bookings will be cancelled. With the closure of the hotel, all employees have also been made redundant with immediate effect.”
Steve Muncaster said: “We’re conscious that in the busy holiday period there will be many disappointed to hear about the closure of the hotel.
“Anyone with an existing booking should get in touch with us and those that have paid in advance for bookings on credit or debit card should contact their provider for potential refunds.”
The Joint Administrators are looking to sell the property and any registrations of interest are welcome.
The hotel previously went into administration in 2011 when it was owned by entrepreneur Stephanie Booth. It was bought out of administration in 2012.
