Police closed off Lammas Street in Carmarthen while armed police dealt with the incident

A man has been taken to hospital as armed police responded to an incident in Carmarthentown centre.
Witnesses reported seeing armed police at the top end of Lammas Street which was closed with its junction with Water Street while officers dealt with the incident.
The man was walked to a waiting ambulance from a property off Lammas Street and was taken to hospital.
Six armed officers and a police dog were called out to the incident.

The town centre was gridlocked after police closed the road to deal with the incident.
One witness had said: "There were armed police there, and a dog unit. They were stopping anyone going up Lammas Street."
Dyfed-Powys Police said: "Police received a report of a man suffering mental distress at approximately 3.30pm. Officers attempted for some time to calm the individual. The area was cordoned off. Ambulance attended and the man has been conveyed to hospital."
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at approximately 3.23pm this afternoon, Thursday, August 11, to an incident on Lammas Street in Carmarthen.
"We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, but were not required."
